Our Purpose

FLAME Youth Ministry exists to provide young people in 7th–12th grade with a welcoming place to grow in their Catholic faith, build meaningful friendships, serve others, and discover how God is calling them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Bringing together the young people of St. John the Evangelist and St. Ignatius of Antioch, FLAME is one youth ministry rooted in two parish communities. Through faith, fellowship, service, prayer, and plenty of fun, we strive to help every young person know that they have a place in the Church and an important role in its future.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ignite a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ in the hearts of young people and empower them to live their Catholic faith with confidence.

FLAME provides opportunities for teens to:

• Encounter Christ through prayer, Scripture, the Sacraments, Eucharistic Adoration, and Catholic teaching.

• Build Community by creating a welcoming environment where young people can form authentic friendships and know they belong.

• Serve Others by putting faith into action through service to our parishes and the wider community.

• Grow as Disciples by encouraging teens to ask questions, deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, and recognize God's presence in everyday life.

• Have Fun because growing in faith also means experiencing the joy of being part of a vibrant Catholic community.

At FLAME, we believe faith isn't something reserved for Sundays—it is something we are called to live every day.

Our Initiatives

At FLAME, faith is meant to be lived, shared, and experienced. Our initiatives give young people opportunities to encounter Christ, build friendships, serve others, and become active members of the Catholic Church.

Faith & Formation

Through youth nights, Bible studies, guest speakers, small groups, and discussions, teens have a place to learn more about their Catholic faith, ask questions, and discover how faith connects to everyday life.

Prayer & Worship

We create opportunities for young people to encounter Jesus through Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, prayer experiences, retreats, and other Catholic traditions.

Service & Outreach

Our teens are encouraged to put their faith into action. Throughout the year, FLAME participates in service projects that support our parishes, local organizations, families in need, and the greater community.

Community & Fellowship

Sometimes the best way to build a strong faith community is simply to spend time together! Social nights, games, trips, sports, meals, and special events give teens the opportunity to make friends and know that they have a place where they belong.

Experiences Beyond Our Parishes

FLAME connects young people with the larger Catholic Church through retreats, pilgrimages, conferences, service opportunities, and special events throughout the Archdiocese and beyond.

Parish Involvement

Young people aren't just the future of the Church—they are an important part of the Church right now. FLAME encourages teens to become involved in parish life through volunteering, liturgical ministries, parish events, service, and leadership opportunities.
